Should You Lease Or Buy A New Van?

It is a jungle out there a maze of different opportunities and decisions. I am referring to the van market, which is seeing a resurgence of interest since the recession. Green technology strangely enough is proving quite popular with those earning there living driving on the roads of the UK. This new found sensitivity I must confess has more to do with the bottom line, as opposed to a sudden interest in global warming. Have a chat with anyone who uses a van regularly, and they will endorse my sentiment!

So how does anyone like myself, a small trader, get the best deals without having the power of the larger company? What are the decisions that need to be considered before comitting to a cash purchase or going down the leasing route? Recently I went down the route of leasing a van having invested some time looking at the different permeation available.

Tax efficiency

If you choose the leasing route, there are considerable tax advantages that not available to a normal purchaser. Because you are making regular monthly payments, you are able to declare this to the tax man and be allowed to right-off the whole deal as a business expense.

Looking for the right deal

The fun part about van leasing is choosing among the options for your new vehicle. You can choose from pick up truck leasing or even a small van lease deal for running around town. Shop around until you are happy that you have found a dealer that can match your expectations. Many companies can supply both cars and heavy machinery, which makes your leases much easier to track on the books because there’s only one vendor payment to make.

Check the fine print

My best advice would be to check small print and ask as many questions as you feel necessary before signing on the dotted line. Make sure that you fully understand what you are committing to, and know where to go for repairs.
