You will sit and wait until the tax payer pays back the money with interest and when they do you get your money back plus the late fee that he has paid.

If the tax payer does not pay their taxes within a certain time frame then the IRS will take their property and give it to the investor that did pay the taxes, in this case you.

So, if you simply pay the taxes of people who have a property that is worth more then the original taxes that they defaulted on then you are going to make money either way.If you do your research and only invest into tax liens that are backed by something then there really isn’t a risk of losing money here.
