Higher education is becoming unaffordable as tuition along with other school fees are drastically increasing in the last years. In reference from the information given by the Department of Labor, the inflation rate of tuition in the United States is estimated at 8.7% annually for the last 20 years. Younger individuals are becoming less educated as opposed to the senior workers in the entire workforce today. Even community universities and universities are getting costly and it is predicted that twenty-five years from today, 24% of the family‚ overall earnings will go to tuition fees alone. Provided the type of economic climate that all of us are in at the present, it‚ an alarming number. 

The good side about this is that there are several scholarships and financial aids being offered by the government and the private sectors. In the preceding years, an approximated amount of $130 billion for educational aid was spent by the federal government and other organizations to help students who happen to be battling with college expenses. Most are in the form of scholarships, grants, and loans.  
Beside from the typical scholarships granted for academic performers, athletes, and qualified low-income learners, there are uncommon scholarships given for specific and mostly odd factors. These reasons include odd individual characteristics, weird hobbies, or wacky talents. 

Perhaps it will sound a little bit far-out but the funding is real. Like the left handed scholarship given in Juniata College in Pennsylvania, that, just like the title suggests, will be given only to left-handed individuals. This is referred to as the Frederick and Mary F. Beckley Scholarship that grants a maximum amount of $1500 annually to every qualified left-handed students.

The scholarship was initiated by a couple of students of Juniata, named Mary Francis and Frederick Beckley. The two were left-handed and they knew each other for the same reason in 1919 when their tennis coach paired them off for an level match. They blossomed lovers and shortly got married, then later gave $24,000 dollars in the form of scholarship fund intended for left-handed students with above-average intelligence. It’s the only left handed scholarships that is available in the United States today, being given solely at Juniata College.
